Caring Mail: Messages of Encouragement for Isolated Community Members
March 13, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 11:45 am
This March, we focus on the idea of mutual aid – a very Caring Cubs kind of idea.
Join us on the very first morning of Daylight Savings Time for an online meet-up to learn about mutual aid and to share ideas about decorating our messages of kindness.
This month, Cubs & their families will make messages of cheer & encouragement for community members who receive mutual aid packages from other community members via Cleveland Pandemic Response.
Cleveland Pandemic Response began facilitating mutual aid shares throughout Northeast Ohio in March 2020. Their work is built on the understanding we are all interconnected and impacted by COVID-19. CPR members look out for each other and believe that everyone has inherent value.
During the online meet-up, we will read a book about helping, learn about CPR, talk about the concept of mutual aid, and trade ideas about message-making!
Caring Cubs’s messages will accompany mutual aid packages that are distributed to Clevelanders who need the supplies. The packages include pantry items, diapers, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products.
Detailed instructions will arrive via email once you register.
** By registering, your team/family commits to make & mail (by March 28) 5+ cards PER REGISTRANT. **
Our goal is 100+ cards, total. Can you help us get there?
TALKING POINTS
* Talk with your kids in an age-appropriate way about how good it feels to be encouraged when having a tough day.
* Talk about the community that encircles your family. Who helps you out when you need a favor? Isn’t it nice when we can do the same for community members who don’t have as many helpers to lean on?
* Think about the supplies that have kept your family safe in the pandemic. Our messages will accompany supply kits for folks who have less access to resources.
