Caring Mail Project: Spreading Cheer to Isolated Senior Citizens

During this stay-at-home time, cubs and their families will send messages of friendship, cheer & encouragement to elders who receive services through the Cleveland Department of Aging. The Cleveland Department of Aging provides services to more than 6,000 individuals, including older adults (60 years of age and older) and adults with disabilities (age 18-59). Care-A-Thon: Caring Mail to Accompany Masks for Non-COVID Health Care Staff at Univ. Hospitals

We have received a special request to make as many messages as we can by Wednesday April 15th to accompany cloth masks that are being distributed to University Hospitals staff who are serving in non-COVID roles. The 100,000 Masks Project has a goal of distributing 100,000 handmade fabric masks to non-COVID providers across UH's many campuses and departments. For our February gathering, we supported The Transplant House of Cleveland.  Located in University Circle, heart of all the wonderful medical facilities Cleveland has to offer, The Transplant House is able to provide convenient, affordable apartments to patients on their journey of receiving or donating a life-saving organ.   Our Cubs painted coffee mugs with cheerful, encouraging words and pictures for the patients to wake up to each day.  The Cubs also made seasonal decorations to hang in and around each apartment.…

January 2020 Flower Power: Our Caring Cubs brought rays of sunshine to residents of the Weils at an event co-hosted with NCJW. Children and residents painted 24 pots and then planted lavender seeds in each for the residents to keep! We colored, played “Would you Rather” and read a story. The Festival of Caring celebrated kindness with a variety of crafts, activities, and games for our Cubs. The service project began with stories and songs about caring followed by a game that taught sharing.  Cubs visited stations to make a variety of projects which will benefit our community. 115 Caring Cubs volunteers participated in our annual service project at Cuyahoga Community College on Saturday, November 2! We were fortunate to be hosted for the 6th consecutive year by the Tri-C Early Childhood Education Program! Volunteers from the education program helped the cubs make 86 guiros (musical instruments made from paper towel rolls) that will be used in the next few weeks in local classrooms. October 20 – Halloween Fun with Seniors

Our Cubs visited the Danbury Senior Living Center to make some Halloween crafts. We had our own Halloween Costume parade for the residents and presented crafts we made as a "reverse" Trick or Treat. October 19 – In Step with Horses

We spent the afternoon grooming horses, leading miniature horses through an obstacle course, making Thank You cards, cleaning pastures and making friends.  Our cubs and families made 60 Thank You cards that In Step with Horses can use to thank their supporters.
