A Diaper Drive for the CPR Diaper Network

October 23, 2021 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

In operation since October 2020, CPR Diaper Network is a part of Cleveland Pandemic Response, a non-hierarchical, volunteer-run Mutual Aid organization started in March 2020 to gather and dispatch pandemic-related supplies and resources to families and individuals in the greater Cleveland area. Mutual Aid is a philosophy of assistance that focuses on the concept of solidarity, as opposed to charity. The emphasis is on peer-to-peer networks of support.
Caring Cubs is excited to partner with the CPR Diaper Network, specifically, to support families who need diapers. In addition to collecting diapers (unopened packages, disposable), Cubs will make messages of encouragement & cheer to accompany this winter’s diaper deliveries in the greater Cleveland area.
This project has several ways to participate!
  • Diaper Collection.
    • Sign up to join the team in-person (outdoors, socially distant, with masks) on Saturday, October 23rd between 12:30-2:30pm.
      • Book a time for your delivery (4 options).
      • Drive through & deliver the diapers you collected.
      • Stay & make encouragement messages at our work station (weather permitting)
    • If you want to contribute diapers but cannot come on the 23rd, your family can contribute virtually to the collection by using this wishlist link.
  • Caring Mail (DIY at home!).
    • On October 23, drive through & deliver handmade encouragement messages along with the diapers you collected; or
    • Mail messages directly to the recipient organization.
  • Invite & Collect.
    • Whether in-person or virtual, a key part of this project is the “drive” aspect. With your family, discuss how you can get a few other people to join in the diaper collection and/or card-making. Think together about who you will ask and what information they will need to join the effort.
      • If participating in-person, plan how to be a small collection site.
      • If participating virtually, plan how to share the wishlist link.
Spreading awareness and goodwill is one of our favorite parts of volunteering together!
** Projects like this are most meaningful for kids when they are included in the preparation. **  Talk together about what your kids think families might need and enjoy. Some kids like to shop for someone they imagine the same age/size they are. Others like to choose something for a younger child or an older one. The main thing is to think together about what would make someone else feel cared about.
Want to make it more artistic? Decorate the package with stickers, add a gift ribbon, or include other fun finishing touches!

Attending in-person?
Masks are required for participants ages 24+ months, will be offered as needed.
Our Policy About COVID Safety

Any participants who arrive without masks may be offered masks and/or may be asked to leave.
