July 28 – Annual School Drive – Ben & Jerry’s – 5 – 8 p.m.

Caring Cubs continued our annual tradition of collecting school supplies for Shoe and Clothes for Kids.  We collected NEW glue sticks, pencils, and crayons (24 packs).  Shoes and Clothes for Kids’ mission is to improve K-8 school attendance by eliminating lack of appropriate clothing, shoes and school supplies as barriers.  Shoes and Clothes for Kids (SC4K) is the only non-profit organization in Greater Cleveland providing new shoes, school uniforms, clothes and school supplies throughout the year at no charge to thousands of children in need.  Through our programs we help improve school attendance, in some cases up to 24%.

In total, Caring Cubs collected:
3 packs of markers
134 glue sticks
52 24-packs of crayons
8 folders
782 pencils
3 backpacks

Cleveland Kids in Need (CKIN) is a program of Shoes and Clothes for Kids, that helps to ensure that every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies to teachers of the students who are most in need.  CKIN is one of 40 affiliates of the national Kids in Need Foundation. Thanks to this relationship, additional school supplies get into more students and teachers’ classrooms more quickly.
